Royalty in the North Cotswolds

Tour Overview

Full Day (8-hours)

Walk the paths once tread by British royalty through the northern Cotswolds. During your day, you’ll discover some of the history behind the places visited and homes lived in by some of the British monarchy. Spanning a timeline from Tudor periods, through to the Civil War and right up to modern day, en route through the region your tour will provide you with an insightful experience showcasing some of their legacy left behind.

After touring through some of the villages and towns such as Chipping Campden, Stow-on-the-Wold and The Slaughters, all with stories of royalty to be heard, you will visit the village of Broadway, home to the famous Lygon Arms Hotel which played host to both King Charles I and Oliver Cromwell. Frequent stops en route will allow you time to walk the cobbled streets and explore some of the shops and buildings.

During the afternoon, you will then continue on to the historic market town of Winchcombe to visit the breathtaking Sudeley Castle and Gardens, which has played an important role in England’s history for over 1,000 years. Your visit will start with an afternoon tea in the Sudeley Castle Terrace Restaurant, which includes a selection of finger sandwiches, scones and patisserie. Then, led by your own knowledgable guide, a bespoke tour will give you an in depth detail of the history of the Tudor castle, the gardens and the 15thCentury church, which is the burial grounds of Katherine Parr and makes Sudeley the only private castle in England to have a Queen buried in its grounds.

Royal Tour Upgrade – Champagne Afternoon Tea Experience

Instead of an afternoon at Sudeley, you will instead take a break from exploring the Cotswold towns and villages during the day enjoy a luxury Champagne afternoon tea at The Lygon Arms Hotel in Broadway.
