Romantic Day Tour in the Cotswolds
Tour Overview
Full Day (7-8 hours)
Embark on an enchanting journey through the heart of the Cotswolds with our exclusive Romantic Cotswold Tour, thoughtfully designed for couples seeking a picturesque escape. Whether it’s a Valentine’s Day celebration or a spontaneous romantic getaway, our full-day tour promises to create timeless memories.
Explore the Northern Cotswolds, where the idyllic villages of Broadway, Chipping Campden, and Blockley await. Revel in the charm of each locale before ascending Dovers Hill, a picturesque spot where you’ll be able to take a short walk for a breath of fresh air and arrive at breathtaking views that stretch over 60-miles on a clear day. Your journey continues to the iconic Broadway Tower, an 18th Century folly perched on the Cotswold escarpment. Originally built by the 6th Earl of Coventry as a gift for his wife – a beacon to be seen from Croome Court – the folly boasts a history rich in tales from World Wars to the Arts and Crafts movement.
As the day unfolds, you will venture towards the captivating villages of Stanton, where the antiquated architecture transports you to a bygone era, and Stanway, home to a majestic 17th Century Hall and the world’s tallest gravity-fed fountain. Indulge in a romantic lunch at a traditional 16th Century country inn, savouring local delights, enjoying a refreshing local ale, cider or perhaps, a celebratory glass of Champagne.
In the afternoon you will travel to Winchcombe, an ancient Saxon town and home to the historic Sudeley Castle – once home to some of England’s most famous kings and queens. A historic fairy-tale location often referred to as the most romantic castle in England with its stunning rose garden and 10 acres of magnificent grounds. Later, you’ll follow the scenic ‘Romantic Road,’ winding through breathtaking landscapes en route to Bourton-on-the-Water, often referred to as ‘Little Venice,’ and The Slaughters, with its old English charm and idyllic winding river.
The final stop in your day will take you to Stow-on-the-Wold, where historic streets and courtyards lead you to enchanting independent boutique shops and foodie delights, perfect for finding unique treasures together.
Our Romantic Cotswold Tour ensures you’ll experience the timeless beauty of the region, visiting off-the-beaten-path locations, allowing you to take in those intimate moments and each other’s company at a relaxed pace. There will be ample opportunities and essential stops for photos throughout your day, to leave you with an enduring and memorable experience.

What others are saying about this tour…
I would like to start by just expressing how thankful we are to have chosen a tour with CJP Cotswold Tours! After reading so many positive reviews on here I thought CJP would be the ideal tour to make our trip a memorable one as I was looking for an unique chance to propose to my girlfriend of 6 years! Chris, his wife Ruth and daughter Charlotte went to great lengths to think up possible places for my proposal and from the moment we emailed Chris, his replies were speedy and he always gave me so much information regarding each of his suggestions… The itinerary Chris created for us was perfect and I highly recommend just going with Chris’s recommendations!
As well as being an all around nice and knowledgeable guy I’d like to add that Chris is incredibly thoughtful and he really went the extra mile to make my proposal to my fiancée a truly memorable milestone in our lives. He actually prepared a bottle of bubbly along with a lovely card and some glasses upon our arrival back to his car from Hidcote Manor Gardens and this was a completely unexpected gesture which really touched both of our hearts.
If we had the time we would have definitely booked a tour spanning across several days as this tour was truly the highlight of our stay at the Cotswolds and we will definitely be requesting future tours from Chris and recommending CJP tours to any of our friends and family visiting the Cotswolds.
Words cannot describe how much we enjoyed this experience thanks to CJP Tours, Chris and his family for the experience that almost brought tears (good tears!) to my fiancées eyes for his thoughtful kindness.Michael & Sophie, Manchester, UK

SOME OF THE TOWNS & VILLAGES YOU’LL VISIT…
BROADWAY
A fine, wide high street–once a coaching inn village–Broadway is now bordered by manicured greens and lined with chocolate-box shops and cottages, and was once a retreat and hub for a colony of artists such as William Morris. Broadway is often referred to as ‘The Jewel of the Cotswolds’ with its delightful high street, art galleries, boutiques, churches and museums. Sitting above the village on the second-highest point in the Cotswolds is also Broadway Tower, a not-to-miss 18th Century folly.
THE SLAUGHTERS
Two ‘picture postcard’ villages – Upper and Lower Slaughter – which lie less than a mile apart, nestled along the sides of the crystal clear waters of the River Eye, with low miniature footbridges. As well as several manor houses (now luxury hotels) the Slaughters also has a 16th Century dovecote and a 19th Century water mill.
STOW-ON-THE-WOLD
Stow-on-the-Wold was once home to one of the most thriving woollen markets in the country. Enjoy a stroll around the boutiques, art galleries, antique shops and town square. Also worth a visit is St Edward’s church, where the great yew trees by the north door are said to have inspired the Doors of Durin (entrance to Moria) in J R R Tolkein’s Lord of the Rings.
BLOCKLEY
The beautiful, unspoilt village of Blockley was once centre of the silk industry in the 18th and 19th Centuries and with the power of its mills, also enabled the village to be one of the first with electricity around 1885. Recently used as the film set for the popular TV series Father Brown.
